We need your help…
The Coronavirus has changed the way the world works, almost overnight. Fortunately, much of the work of the ME Trust is done by phone, Skype and email, so for now we are able to carry on working towards our vision of bringing hope and transformational care to all affected by this illness. Although we have cancelled our face to face Clinics until further notice, our Doctor, Nurse, Physiotherapist, Counsellors and Chaplains are working from home and arrangements to follow up existing patients will continue as normal.
We know from our patient feedback that we are making a difference:
“I have telephone appointments each month now with Dr Paul Worthley, through the ME Trust. He is such a lovely, kind Doctor and he is helping me pace and find things and strategies that might help me. The biggest thing though is the support he gives me and his belief in the fact that this is a real and devastating illness, it has helped me so much”
“Sue has real empathy. She’s not like usual physio which is all about ‘there is no gain without pain’, but she has a real understanding. She is very gentle and takes everything at your pace. She always leaves me with a smile on my face and feeling that there is hope”
“I cannot thank The ME Trust enough. The support, and loving care has been absolutely brilliant”.
The need for our services is now even greater. Many people with ME are reliant on their families and carers to ensure they stay safe and well. Others are completely isolated and our support can be a lifeline. Anxiety has increased dramatically and many more people are seeking emotional as well as practical support.
As the Coronavirus deepens, the ME Trust, like many small charities, is finding it impossible to raise money through outdoor community and challenge events and increasingly difficult for us to predict our income in the months ahead. This is why we are asking for your support.
Would you consider starting a regular gift to the ME. Trust at this time?
- £5 a month will provide regular specialist emotional support for a parent caring for a bed bound child
- £10 a month will provide regular follow up calls from a specially trained ME Nurse
- £25 a month will enable a person who may have been waiting years for specialist medical advice to speak to a doctor with a very special understanding of their illness
A regular gift would enable us to budget and plan our work effectively. However, if you are not in a position to give monthly, a one-off donation would give us some much-needed support during this extraordinary time.
- £25 will provide a counselling session for someone isolated by ME
- £100 will provide a clinic session with a physiotherapist
- £250 will provide a home visit by a Doctor for someone who is bedbound
Or give whatever you can. Visit https://www.metrust.org.uk/donate/.
At the moment, we are all experiencing more social isolation than we are used to, but it may become the new normal. For many people with ME, social isolation is normal. With your help we will continue supporting those with ME through the Coronavirus pandemic – and beyond – as best as we can.
